A woman has been arrested in Volusia County, Florida, after allegedly poisoning a man’s drink with Raid roach spray, resulting in his hospitalization. The incident occurred at a residence on Wheeler Street in DeLeon Springs, prompting an investigation by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Veronica Cline, was apprehended by law enforcement near the scene without any resistance.
According to the authorities, the investigation was initiated after receiving a call from the victim’s residence around 4:30 a.m. on Friday. When deputies arrived, they found the man in need of immediate medical attention and promptly transported him to the hospital. The victim informed law enforcement that Cline had returned home after a night of drinking at a bar and urged him to continue drinking with her. He claimed to have consumed two drinks before feeling unwell.
Allegedly, it was at this point that Cline confessed to adding Raid roach spray to the two beverages. The victim experienced severe vomiting for approximately half an hour before managing to contact emergency services. He continued to feel ill while providing his statement to the authorities. Meanwhile, Cline had fled the scene, but a K-9 unit successfully tracked her down nearby, leading to her arrest.
Cline now faces charges of poisoning food or drink and has been booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail without bond. The motive behind her actions remains unclear. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to gather more information about the incident. The current condition of the man who drank the insecticide is not currently known.
