Woman Dies After Stabbing Inside Brickell Luxury High-Rise

Miami police said the early-morning attack was domestic-related, and a man was detained for questioning as detectives investigated.

MIAMI, FL — A woman died after she was stabbed multiple times early Friday inside a luxury apartment tower in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood, police said, prompting a large police response and an investigation that continued through the morning.

City of Miami police officers were called at about 4:45 a.m. Sept. 4 to the Solitair Brickell Apartments at 86 SW Eighth St. Officers found the woman suffering from multiple stab wounds, according to police. Miami Fire Rescue officials later said she was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities had not publicly released her name as of late Friday morning.

Police later described the case as a domestic-related and isolated incident. A man was detained for questioning, according to local news reports citing investigators. Police had not announced an arrest or criminal charges, and authorities did not immediately release information identifying the man or explaining his relationship to the woman.

Investigators were focused on the circumstances surrounding the stabbing inside the high-rise. WSVN reported that the attack occurred on the 47th floor and that detectives were examining surveillance video. The building’s main elevators were temporarily shut down during the investigation, the station reported.

A resident who lives on the same floor told Local 10 that he heard noises around 4:30 a.m. before later encountering police activity while leaving the building for a run. Zach Karson said he saw police tape and several officers in the hallway before returning to his apartment. His account offered a glimpse of the disruption residents encountered as officers secured the area.

Police remained at the Solitair throughout the morning, with patrol vehicles and investigators visible around the property. Early reports initially described the woman’s condition as unknown, but authorities later confirmed that she had died. The change reflected information released as the investigation developed Friday morning.

Police had not disclosed what investigators believe led to the violence, what type of relationship existed between those involved or whether investigators had recovered a weapon. Authorities also had not released the victim’s exact age. WSVN reported that she was believed to be in her late 50s or early 60s, citing investigators.

No broader threat to the public had been reported, with police characterizing the stabbing as an isolated domestic incident. Detectives continued reviewing evidence and questioning the detained man as the investigation remained active. Additional information, including the victim’s identity and any possible charges, had not been released.
