Woman fatally shot by neighbor while collecting cans

HOUSTON, TX – A 43-year-old woman faces murder charges following the fatal shooting of a 75-year-old woman who was known for collecting aluminum cans in her neighborhood. The incident occurred on July 15 at the Spanish Village Apartments on Griggs Road.

Amber McNulty was initially charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, but those charges have now escalated to murder. Residents of the apartment complex expressed relief upon hearing of the new charges against McNulty.

A neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, recounted the events leading to the arrest. She said she heard gunshots and immediately called 911. The neighbor claimed to have overheard McNulty admitting to the shooting.
