Woman fatally shot in the head by teenager

CHICAGO, IL – In a harrowing incident that has stunned a Chicago neighborhood, a 43-year-old woman was shot dead in her own residence by a 17-year-old boy. Police identified the decedent as Tatanisha Jackson, a resident of the South Shore neighborhood.

Police reports reveal that the deadly episode transpired around 3:55 p.m. in a house on the 6800 block of South Cornell. The teenager brazenly entered the residence, brandished a gun, and shot Jackson multiple times before absconding from the scene. The disturbing event left local residents in shock.

According to local accounts, the young shooter had seemingly planted himself inside Jackson’s home, anticipating her arrival. Tragically, the brutal crime unfolded in front of Jackson’s family. Wendy Herring, a neighbor, said, “I guess the guy had come through the back, kicked the door down. It’s devastating, you know?”.

Jackson suffered four gunshot wounds to the head before being whisked away to the University of Chicago Medical Center. Despite efforts to save her, she later died of her injuries.

Police are yet to identify a suspect or determine whether Jackson had any prior knowledge of her killer. The ongoing investigation has led to the retrieval of a gun from the crime scene.
