ROCHESTER, NY – The body of a 33-year-old woman from Pittsford, New York, was discovered at the bottom of an embankment in Rochester after she was reported missing on New Year’s Day, according to officials. The woman was identified as Jennifer Hicks.
Hicks was last spotted around 2:30 a.m. on Monday at Ziggy’s bar located on Railroad Street in Rochester, as reported by Brendan Hurley from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. A missing person alert led to the discovery of her body during a joint search by the sheriff’s office and Rochester police.
While there were no apparent signs of foul play, the investigation continues. The Medical Examiner’s Office is looking into the cause of Hicks’ death. Hurley noted that nothing can be ruled out until a definitive cause of Hicks’ death has been determined.
Hicks’ whereabouts when she was alone during her disappearance and her intended destination remain unclear. According to Hurley, the route Hicks took was unusual considering the location of her residence.
Dan DeHond, a former classmate of Hicks, expressed his fond memories of her in a Facebook post. He described Hicks as supportive, sweet, and confident, saying she would be greatly missed.
According to her Facebook page, Hicks graduated from Monroe Community College in 2012, where she studied health sciences and worked for Monroe Ambulance. Prior to college, she attended Brighton High School.
