BOSTON, MA – Prosecutors say a Cambridge woman is being held without bail after stabbing a restaurant worker in Boston on Sunday night. The incident followed a dispute at the restaurant, Kaze Shabu Shabu, located at 1 Harrison Avenue.
The accused, Alicia Morasse, 29, was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on Monday on numerous charges. These accusations included assault with intent to murder, assault and battery using a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct, property vandalism, and the threat to commit a crime.
Just before 10.30 p.m. on Sunday, Boston police officers responded to a call to remove a patron from the establishment. Upon arrival, they were informed a staff member had been stabbed and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
In court, prosecutors shared that Morasse had gone into the restaurant and ordered food before getting into an argument with a worker. As the worker tried to remove her from the premises, the altercation escalated, and Morasse is alleged to have wielded a knife and stabbed the employee.
Morasse managed to escape the scene initially but was later located in the vicinity of Stuart Street and Church Street. A knife, believed to be the weapon used in the alleged assault, was recovered from her backpack by police.
Morasse will remain in custody until her dangerousness hearing, set for August 8. Concurrently, an extensive investigation into the stabbing incident is underway.
