GREENSBORO, NC – Authorities are seeking public assistance in locating Marissa Carmichael, a 25-year-old mother who disappeared in Greensboro, North Carolina, following a distressing 911 call. Carmichael was last noted at an Exxon gas station located at 809 East Market St. in Greensboro in the early hours of Sunday, Jan. 14. The police have recently released Carmichael’s recorded exchange with a 911 dispatcher on that fateful night.
In the call, an anxious Carmichael explains that a man had asked her to collect items from the gas station, only to drive away while she was inside, leaving her stranded without any mode of transport. She mentioned being unfamiliar with her setting and without her phone, which the man had taken.
Upon the dispatcher’s query, Carmichael clarified she was unhurt and described her clothing, consisting of blue jeans, a white shirt, and yellow sneakers. Despite her obvious distress, there were no further identifying details about the man in her report.
Upon the police’s arrival at the gas station in response to the call, Carmichael was noted to be absent.
According to a police spokesperson, Carmichael’s whereabouts are still unknown, and the active search has not yielded any leads, despite the department indicating her last sighting at 3:46 a.m. on Jan. 14 at the Exxon station. Further details of the ongoing investigation have been kept confidential to maintain its integrity.
Sara Kay Carmichael, who identifies herself as Marissa’s mother, reported Marissa missing on the afternoon of the same day. She resides in High Point, North Carolina, approximately 25 minutes south of Greensboro. The mother also provided police with the name of a man she believes could be involved with her daughter’s disappearance.
Marissa Carmichael is 5-foot-4, weighs approximately 260 pounds, and sports long black and blonde braids. Identifiable features include a heart-shaped tattoo on her face, a butterfly tattoo near her eye, and she was reportedly last seen wearing a white Tweety Bird shirt, blue jeans, and yellow sneakers.
The police, having shared multiple advisories over the past few weeks on social media platforms, request anyone with information related to Carmichael’s disappearance to contact Crime Stoppers.
