LONGWOOD, NY – Police reported that a woman was fatally stabbed in a Bronx deli on Thursday. The altercation took place at Jose Mini Market Inc. in the Longwood area with officers responding to the scene around 3:15 p.m.
Alex Ali, an employee at the store, shared that a dispute between two women escalated quickly, turning violent when one woman brandished a knife. The victim, 29-year-old Gwendolyn Guyton, was critically injured after multiple stab wounds to her neck and torso.
“She was laying down full of blood,” recalled witness Mario Marrero, describing the gruesome scene. Despite efforts to save her life, Guyton was later pronounced dead at NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln.
The circumstances that led up to the deadly altercation remain unclear, although friends of Guyton expressed that no argument justifies such an act. Shelby Miller, a friend of the victim, lamented over the fate of Guyton’s 10-year-old son and the senseless violence that led to her death.
Immediately after the stabbing, the suspect fled the scene, reportedly seen last on a white scooter, wearing a green shirt and blue sweatpants. Surveillance footage also revealed an individual who appeared to match the suspect’s description.
As the investigation continues, Guyton’s friends expressed their wish for the swift apprehension of the perpetrator.
