Woman’s body found stuffed in garbage bag

NEW YORK, NY – A horrifying discovery was made in a high-end apartment in the Bronx borough of New York City, where authorities found the body of a 70-year-old woman concealed in a garbage bag. The woman, originally from Georgia, was staying in the residence with family before her death.

Police converged on the Grand Concourse Avenue apartment in the Mott Haven area shortly before 2 p.m. on Thursday, according to reports. The victim was declared dead on the spot.

According to police, the daughter-in-law of the person leasing the apartment came upon the victim’s concealed body. Four relatives of the deceased woman, two men and two women, were brought in by the police for questioning. Most were released after questioning.

53-year-old Inga Bearden was charged with concealment of a human corpse, a felonious act. Bearden’s relation to the victim remains undisclosed.

As the police await autopsy results, preliminary investigation shows no obvious signs of physical trauma on the deceased. The cause of death is yet to be established.

This disturbing incident comes within days of a similar case where the body of 52-year-old Nadia Vitel was found stashed inside a duffel bag in her Kips Bay neighborhood apartment. Shortly after, two squatters accused of fleeing New York in Vitel’s stolen SUV and eventually crashing it, were apprehended in Pennsylvania.
