GREENSBORO, NC – A North Carolina park turned into a crime scene when local authorities discovered a 19-year-old woman’s lifeless body on the picnic table. Found under a pavilion, her body bore what appeared to be gunshot wounds that led to her untimely end.
The Greensboro Police Department responded to a call from a concerned citizen on Sunday evening around 7:27 p.m. The caller reported witnessing a motionless person on a picnic table at the park situated in the 2900 block of Haig Street. This was a concerning scene, especially since the individual heard what sounded like fireworks a mere hour before reporting the incident.
Upon a closer inspection, the person stated that the individual on the picnic table wasn’t breathing and had evident gunshot injuries. Once the police arrived at the scene, they discovered the victim, identified as Jakala Marie Goode, and promptly pronounced her dead.
Jakala Marie Goode’s death is being treated as a homicide case by the police. However, the investigation is still in its early stages, and police have not yet named any suspects or disclosed possible motives.
Greensboro has seen its 22nd homicide of the year with Goode’s death.
