Young man murdered at hibachi restaurant

BROCKTON, MA – A family in Brockton, Massachusetts, is reeling after the murder of 22-year-old Joe Araujo, who was fatally shot inside the Hibachi Sushi Supreme Buffet at the Brockton East Shopping Plaza. His family has expressed their disbelief and heartbreak over the shocking incident.

Araujo’s mother, Ana Inocencio, said, “I see him in the hospital, but still, I can’t believe.” This sentiment was echoed by his sister, Andrea Monteiro, who added, “Even if justice is served, we can never get him back ever again. That’s what breaks my heart the most.”

Footage shared by the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office shows a male figure concealed by a mask. The masked man approached Araujo’s table, drew a gun from his jacket, and shot Araujo at close range.

Araujo’s other sister, Vera Lopes, voiced her dismay at the lack of public response. “It was in front of a lot of people for no one to open their heart as a human being and be part of justice to be made for my brother,” she stated.

Authorities have yet to make any arrests or name any suspects in relation to the shooting. Araujo’s family has urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the police.

Investigators from the district attorney’s office believe Araujo was a targeted victim, enough to rule out random violence.
