NEW YORK CITY, NY — An 18-year-old man has been charged with murder after a 39-year-old man was fatally shot Tuesday evening outside a building on Grand Avenue in the Bronx, authorities said.
Iyahni McIntosh was arrested shortly after midnight Wednesday in connection with the death of Klint French, according to police information reported by local news outlets. McIntosh faces charges of murder, manslaughter and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. The charges are accusations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Police responded to a 911 call reporting a man shot in front of 2525 Grand Ave. at about 6:50 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18. Officers found French with a gunshot wound to the head. Emergency medical workers responded and pronounced him dead at the scene, authorities said.
The shooting happened within the New York Police Department’s 52nd Precinct. French was identified after his family was notified. Authorities have not publicly announced a motive for the shooting, and the circumstances leading up to the gunfire remain under investigation.
