Attorney shot and killed at McDonald’s restaurant

HOUSTON, TX – Over the weekend, a well-respected Houston attorney was fatally shot at a McDonald’s on I-10 near Chimney Rock in West Houston. The lawyer, known as Jeffrey Limmer, is being recognized as a Good Samaritan who tried to mediate an escalating situation before becoming a victim himself.

The 46-year-old attorney is remembered by his community for standing up for what he considered right, an attribute that apparently led to his fatal encounter with an irate McDonald’s customer on Saturday.

Fellow attorneys and clients weren’t the only ones mourning. Greg Monteverde, a longtime friend of Limmer, drove past the horrific crime scene without knowing that the victim was his childhood friend. “It’s a gut punch. It’s a deep gut punch. I know a lot of us are still in shock,” Monteverde said, referring to their group of childhood friends.

Monteverde and Limmer shared many memories together, including playing football at Memorial High School. Monteverde fondly recalls how proud Limmer was of his cousin’s recent draft pick by the Rams.

However, on Saturday, around 6 p.m., Limmer decided to intervene when an angry man at the McDonald’s became increasingly abusive towards the establishment’s staff. Monteverde explained, “…Jeff stepped in to try and de-escalate the situation try and calm him down.”

Unfortunately, the hostile customer retrieved a gun from his vehicle, followed by opening fire on Limmer.

As of now, the suspect has not been apprehended. Investigators said he fled the scene in a blue Ford pickup truck after the deadly shooting.
