Man stabbed during elementary school ceremony

LAS VEGAS, NV – Following a heated altercation that escalated from verbal to physical, a man was stabbed thrice during a promotion ceremony at Wendell Williams Elementary School. The incident, which occurred during a 5th-grade occasion, steered the engagement of the Clark County School District Police Department (CCSDPD) into action.

The female involved in the dispute is now facing several charges, including battery, assault with a deadly weapon, and disturbance of a school, according to Lieutenant Bryan Zink of CCSDPD. The male victim, who is the father of the woman’s child, was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. His injuries were deemed non-life-threatening, resulting in his release shortly after.

Accounts from Lieutenant Zink clarified that the disagreement initially started inside the school cafeteria where the promotion ceremony was being held. The dispute then moved outside to a quad area where it escalated into a physical encounter around 10:50 a.m.

Following the incident, the school went into a hard lockdown, engaging both the local district police and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. While the school district confirmed the absence of a present threat to students or personnel, the initial promotion ceremony had to be postponed.

The CCSDPD has generated a list of potential student witnesses, providing them with the necessary resources. The inquiry is ongoing and will resume until further notice.
