Newborn baby found abandoned in dumpster

HOUSTON, TX – A newborn baby boy was discovered in a dumpster in Houston on July 21, according to local authorities. The person who found the infant alerted emergency services after hearing the infant’s cries emanating from the dumpster.

When emergency medical services arrived on the scene, they found the newborn in a bag amidst the trash behind an apartment complex on Dashwood Drive. They rescued him promptly and wrapped him in a blanket. Police, citing Child Protective Services, confirmed that the child was in good health after being taken to a hospital. He is currently under the care of Child Protective Services.

A suspect has been reportedly identified. However, no details have been released yet. Police maintain the suspect’s name will remain undisclosed until formal charges have been filed.

In the past month, this baby marks the third infant to be abandoned in Houston, a pattern that deeply distresses local officials. “It’s heartbreaking every time we see it,” said Martee Boose from the Houston Fire Department.

Texas law offers a safe and legal solution for parents who cannot care for newborns. It allows parents to leave infants at designated safe places, such as hospitals, fire stations, and free-standing emergency centers. If these criteria are met, the procedure will not lead to prosecution, provided that the child is in good condition and not older than 60 days.
