Investigators believe a man fatally shot his partner before killing himself at their recently occupied far West Side home.
BEXAR COUNTY, TX— A man and woman were found dead from gunshot wounds Sunday evening at a far West Side home, and investigators believe the deaths were a murder-suicide following an argument earlier in the day, authorities said.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the Sept. 13 deaths as a domestic violence-related homicide. Sheriff Javier Salazar said investigators believe the man, who was thought to be in his late 30s, shot the woman, believed to be in her 40s, before killing himself. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office will make the official determinations on the causes and manners of death. The couple’s names had not been released.
The deaths occurred at a home in the 14000 block of Confluence Creek in the newly built Veranda subdivision near Talley Road and Wiseman Boulevard. Salazar said the man and woman had moved into the house about 10 days before they were found dead. Authorities described them as living together as husband and wife, although investigators were still working to confirm whether they were legally married.
A man who was also living at the residence told investigators that he heard the couple arguing Sunday morning, according to Salazar. The witness later left the property. When he returned that evening, he discovered the man and woman with gunshot wounds and authorities were called to the home.
Deputies responded at about 7:30 p.m. Salazar said evidence found at the scene led investigators to believe the man shot the woman before killing himself. Authorities had not announced a motive, and the sheriff cautioned that the investigation remained in its early stages.
The case is being counted by the sheriff’s office as its eighth domestic violence-related homicide of 2026. Salazar said deputies had investigated 18 homicides in unincorporated Bexar County so far this year, compared with 16 during all of 2025. The sheriff’s office has jurisdiction over unincorporated portions of the county.
The deaths also mark the sixth suspected murder-suicide investigated in Bexar County this year, according to the San Antonio Express-News. In four of the earlier cases, law enforcement had previously responded to reports involving domestic violence, the newspaper reported.
One of those cases occurred in July, when authorities said 58-year-old Robert Rennie fatally shot his 55-year-old wife, Ana Laura Rennie, at their Von Ormy home before killing himself. Investigators said deputies had previously responded to that residence multiple times, including for reports involving domestic violence.
Authorities had not disclosed whether deputies had any previous calls involving the couple found dead Sunday on Confluence Creek. Investigators were continuing to examine the scene, determine the couple’s legal relationship and await findings from the medical examiner before making final conclusions about the deaths.
