BROOKLYN, NY – A laundromat worker was stabbed by an enraged customer who was upset over his laundry not being ready on time. The vicious attack took place inside a laundromat on Bath Avenue in Brooklyn, just before 2 p.m. on Monday, according to police and the business owner.
The male customer allegedly stormed the counter after learning that his $15.34 wash-and-fold laundry was still in progress. Unable to curb his fury, he allegedly slashed the female worker’s neck and arms. The victim is a woman in her 50s, who was swiftly transported to NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn in a stable condition by the Emergency Medical Services, stated the police.
A fellow employee at the laundromat claimed that the stark sight of blood was terrifying. He described how the alleged suspect turned “mad” and “crazy” upon discovering his unfinished laundry. His wash was reportedly still in the machine due to the laundromat being overly occupied.
The surveillance footage of the gruesome act was viewed by the visibly shaken co-worker, and she recognized the suspect as a sporadic customer. She added that the suspect’s mother resides across the street from the laundromat. The suspect, who was reported to be wearing a gray shirt and white sneakers, left the premises immediately following the heinous attack and headed north on 21st Avenue toward Benson Avenue, according to NYPD.
The police are still investigating the case.
