GILBERT, AZ – Surveillance footage shows a man allegedly crawling under multiple women’s vehicles at a car wash in Arizona last month, sparking a police investigation. On August 29, Gilbert police officers were dispatched to investigate three separate reports of a man, later identified as 28-year-old Jesse Johnson, reportedly seen crawling under vehicles as women vacuumed their cars near Val Vista Drive and Riggs Road.
Witnesses and surveillance cameras documented Johnson’s actions. Court documents reveal that while the women were occupied with their vacuuming, Johnson spent several minutes hiding beneath their cars before emerging.
Security footage captured Johnson parking beside a woman’s white SUV, despite numerous available spaces. He then moved to the front of the woman’s vehicle as she vacuumed. Minutes later, Johnson is seen emerging from underneath her car and returning to his vehicle, where he appeared to be “cleaning” his rear tire.
Concerned for their safety, the women inspected their vehicles for possible damage or tracking devices, as Johnson’s actions were unclear at the time. The unsettling nature of these incidents led to one woman experiencing nightmares.
A check of Johnson’s criminal history revealed multiple arrests in Nebraska for similar offenses. Authorities noted that Johnson had previously admitted to law enforcement in the Midwest that he has a sexual attraction to women’s feet, which sometimes leads to uncontrollable behavior.
On Tuesday, Arizona police apprehended Johnson. He faces charges of three counts of voyeurism and three counts of disorderly conduct.
