Dismembered body found in apartment freezer following anonymous tip

BROOKLYN, NY – An anonymous CrimeStoppers tip was made about a possible body being stored in a Flatbush apartment. New York police responded to the tip, and officers made the chilling discovery in the early hours of Monday.

Police officers arrived at the fourth-floor apartment located on Nostrand Avenue near Farragut Road around 6:15 a.m. Here, they found a man’s severed head and dismembered body parts stored in a freezer sealed with tape. The disturbing finding was confirmed by NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny.

Kenny explained to reporters on Tuesday that the initial investigation led the patrol to come across the body parts. As he stated, “We have a head. We have some limbs. As of right now, it seems like we have the whole body.”

It is believed that the tape on the freezer was used to contain the smell of the decomposition within.

While investigators continue their work to identify the victim, a woman present in the apartment at the time of the discovery has been detained. She was taken into custody due to multiple outstanding warrants for petit larceny.

The woman was taken to a hospital after she reported feeling unwell. As of Tuesday afternoon, Kenny stated she has not yet been interviewed by investigators due to her ongoing hospitalization.

The official cause of death for the deceased victim will be determined by the city Medical Examiner’s office.
