Driver dies after ramming car into White House security barrier

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A fatal traffic collision occurred on Saturday night as a car crashed into the security gates of the White House, according to official reports. The male driver, kept unidentified, was declared dead at the scene.

The crash currently has no connection to any national threat or public safety issues. The incident is solely being investigated as a traffic incident.

The fatal collision took place at approximately 10.30 p.m. ET. The car was reportedly moving at a high speed before it struck the gate lining the White House’s outer perimeter, as per the statement issued by the Secret Service. The responding officers discovered the unconscious driver inside the car.

First responders attempted life-saving procedures on the driver, but is was done to no avail. No additional injuries were reported in connection to the crash.

The Secret Service emphasized in their statement that the fatal crash didn’t pose any threat to the White House. For a thorough investigation, the fatal crash segment is forwarded to the Crash Investigation Unit of the Washington Metropolitan Police Department, while the Secret Service continues its review.

During the incident, President Biden was in Delaware, thereby excluding him from physically being at the White House.
