ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO – A gruesome case has surfaced from a neighborhood in north St. Louis County. According to authorities, a man is accused of physically assaulting his sister and elderly parents, binding them, and confining them in their home’s basement without access to food or water for several days.
The horrifying situation was uncovered on July 30 during a welfare check at a residence on Coburg Lands Drive. The scene that the police encountered was shocking.
Court documents reveal that 35-year-old Anthony Holloway allegedly subjected his sister and elderly parents to a brutal attack. He then dragged them to a room in the basement, used zip ties to bind their hands together, and abandoned them in the dark without sustenance for four days, from July 26 to July 30.
Holloway is allegedly accused of treating the victims with utter inhumanity. He purportedly threw water and other liquids on them and hit them with a whip intermittently. Furthermore, he is alleged to have burned his mother’s hands and forced his sister to ascend the stairs on her hands and knees, picking up feces-covered papers with her mouth.
Kenneth Moore, a neighbor who lives next door, was completely unaware of the horrifying ordeal happening next door and expressed shock at the revelation. He speculated that Holloway might have been suffering from a mental health crisis.
Five other neighbors reported that there was a scene of chaos outside the house when first responders evacuated the malnourished victims. As Moore pointed out, it goes to show that one can never predict what’s happening behind closed doors.
All four family members are reported to be making a recovery in the hospital.
Holloway is facing charges of assault, kidnapping, and elderly abuse. He is currently held on a bond of $300,000.
