FedEx driver robbed at gunpoint and zip-tied in his truck

EDISON, NJ – A FedEx driver was robbed and bound in his own vehicle at gunpoint on Thursday evening in Edison. The robbery occurred at around 8 p.m. while the 35-year-old driver was shifting a trailer on Greek Lane.

According to the authorities, three suspects decked out in dark clothing and medical masks aggressively approached him. Deputy Chief Robert Dudash of Edison Police said the crime seemed premeditated, as the robbers seemed to know the driver’s exact location and moved in at the right time, indicating that this wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment crime.

Two of the assailants got into the truck with the driver, while the third followed in another vehicle. After forcing the driver to Ethel Road, where a white box truck was awaiting, they bound him with zip ties and left him in his vehicle. The driver’s cell phones were discarded to hinder him from contacting the police, and the robbers unloaded two pallets from the FedEx truck into the box truck before fleeing.

Fortunately, the victim managed to untie himself and alert the police using his Apple Watch. FedEx confirmed that the driver sustained no physical injuries and added its full cooperation in the ongoing investigation.

The suspects in the robbery are all described as Hispanic males in dark clothing. The authorities are looking into surveillance footage that might have captured the incident and are probing the possibility of it being an inside job.
