Four family members found dead at home, including two kids

NEW YORK, NY – A chilling incident left a New York City family mourning the loss of four family members, including two young children, who were discovered dead in their home. Police detained a 24-year-old man related to the victims, who is believed to have stabbed the two women and two children to death in their Brooklyn apartment. Charges against the man have yet to be confirmed.

Late on Friday night, authorities arrived at the apartment on the junction of Avenue P and West Eighth Street in Bensonhurst, responding to a 911 call reporting domestic assault. The victims were identified as 56-year-old Mavlyuda Fayzieva, 27-year-old Maftuna Khakimova, and two children, 5-year-old Kamila Shavkatova and 4-year-old Timur Shavkatov. According to relatives, Khakimova was the children’s mother and Fayzieva her mother-in-law.

A neighborhood resident, Juan Perez, was awakened early on Saturday by weeping outside his window. He saw a man who appeared to be extraordinarily distraught and needed consoling. Other neighbors recounted the somber scene, with one observers noting the particularly anguished cries of the son, mourning his deceased mother.

One long-term resident of the building spoke fondly of the kindly 56-year-old grandmother who had always been ready to offer help. Many neighbors are grappling with the profound tragedy.

Detectives have been actively investigating the crime, interviewing neighbors and conducting detailed examinations of the apartment building. A memorial comprising flowers and candles has begun to accumulate outside the building on West Eighth Street.
