Carrollton police said Gloria Resendiz surrendered after investigators obtained warrants alleging indecency with a child by sexual contact and child grooming.
CARROLLTON, TX — A Hebron High School teacher turned herself in to police Tuesday after authorities obtained arrest warrants accusing her of indecency with a child by sexual contact and child grooming in a case involving a juvenile student, Carrollton police said.
Gloria Resendiz, 35, surrendered at the Carrollton Jail on Oct. 6 and was later transferred to the Denton County Jail, according to police. The investigation began after a Hebron High School administrator contacted the Carrollton Police Department on Sept. 27 about electronic communications between Resendiz and a student that raised concerns. Police said the investigation remains active and additional charges could be filed as detectives continue reviewing evidence.
The student had been enrolled in one of Resendiz’s classes during a previous school year but was no longer in one of her classes, police said. Detectives opened an investigation after receiving the report from the school and said they found evidence indicating what authorities described as an ongoing inappropriate relationship. Police have withheld information that could identify the juvenile.
An arrest affidavit obtained by NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth provides additional allegations about the investigation. According to the affidavit, a parent discovered numerous phone and FaceTime calls between the student and Resendiz, as well as communications through WhatsApp. Investigators said the student continued spending time in Resendiz’s classroom even though Resendiz was no longer the student’s teacher.
Police conducted a forensic examination of the student’s phone with parental consent, according to the affidavit. Investigators reported finding deleted messages, records of frequent communications and locked journal entries that they said described a romantic relationship between the student and Resendiz. The affidavit also alleged that Resendiz had given the student multiple gifts. Investigators cited those records in establishing probable cause for the indecency charge.
The affidavit alleges the student’s journal described kissing between the student and Resendiz beginning in March 2026 and described the relationship as one they believed had to be hidden. Authorities have characterized those details as allegations contained in the criminal investigation. Resendiz has not been convicted of the charges, and an attorney for her did not respond to a request for comment from NBC 5.
Police obtained warrants accusing Resendiz of indecency with a child by sexual contact, a second-degree felony, and child grooming, a third-degree felony. A magistrate signed a probable cause determination related to the indecency allegation on Oct. 2, according to the arrest affidavit. Resendiz surrendered four days later after police had publicly announced that they were seeking her.
Lewisville Independent School District said Resendiz was placed on administrative leave after the allegations were received and is prohibited from entering district facilities. The district said it is cooperating with the Carrollton Police Department as investigators continue working on the case. Hebron High School also made counselors available to students and staff following disclosure of the investigation.
The Carrollton Police Department said it will not release information that could identify the juvenile involved in the case. Investigators said the inquiry remains ongoing as detectives review additional evidence, and authorities have said further charges are possible depending on what that review finds.
