Hospital worker killed after being hit by car on the way to work

PHILADELPHIA, PA – In a fatal accident, a man was killed in a hit-and-run that took place in University City, Philadelphia. The man who lost his life in the incident was hit by a vehicle while on his way to work early Wednesday morning.

The devastating collision took place at about 5:40 a.m. on the 3600 block of Spruce Street. It was at this time that a Buick Enclave fatally struck 55-year-old Jonathan Mack as he crossed the street within the crosswalk. After being taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, he was tragically pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to the police, the driver, a 41-year-old woman, later reported the incident at the 18th police district. No charges have been filed as yet, but further investigations are ongoing.

Mack’s wife, Robin, described her husband as beloved within their home and local community. Since 2012, he had worked as an anesthesia technician at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He was en route to his job when the unfortunate incident took place.

The couple had been married for over three decades and Mack leaves behind two sons and three grandchildren. Despite the grief, Robin expressed determination to get through the tragedy, highlighting the significant support she has.
