LONDON, ENGLAND – British authorities have apprehended a suspect in connection with the grim discovery of human remains found inside suitcases in southwest England. The 34-year-old man was arrested by armed officers at a train station in Bristol early Saturday morning.
The Metropolitan Police also disclosed that additional human remains were unearthed on Friday at a location in Shepherd’s Bush, West London, believed to be linked to the remains found near Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol. Forensic teams were observed conducting investigations at the site in Shepherd’s Bush throughout Saturday.
Police are conducting extensive inquiries but currently believe no other individuals are involved in this incident.
The arrest follows a series of unsettling events that began when the police were alerted to a man acting suspiciously near the iconic bridge around midnight on Wednesday. By the time the authorities arrived, the man had left the scene in a taxi, which has since been impounded for further investigation.
While the identities of the victims have not been officially confirmed, preliminary examination suggests both are adults. The results of the autopsies are pending, with one already completed but inconclusive, and another still ongoing.
In a related but separate case earlier in the week, police detained a 26-year-old man after an extensive manhunt related to the crossbow murders of three women.
A 36-year-old individual arrested in Greenwich, London on Friday in relation to this case has been released without charges.
This case continues to develop as investigators piece together the events leading to this chilling discovery. If anyone has information concerning this case, they are encouraged to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
