Braden Peters faces three criminal charges over an alleged May 2025 encounter with a 17-year-old at a Cape Cod home.
BOSTON, MA — Social media influencer Braden Peters, known online as “Clavicular,” has been charged with rape and two related offenses in Massachusetts after a 17-year-old girl told police she became heavily intoxicated after he provided her with alcohol at his family’s Cape Cod home.
Peters, 20, faces one count of rape, one count of administering a substance for sexual intercourse and one count of procuring alcohol for a person under 21, according to court records. The alleged offenses occurred May 23, 2025, in Chatham. A clerk-magistrate found probable cause for the charges Sept. 4, and a criminal complaint was issued Sept. 8. Peters has not been convicted of the allegations.
Peters is not in custody and is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 14 in Orleans District Court. His publicist did not immediately respond Tuesday to an Associated Press request for comment, and attorneys for the teenager also did not immediately respond, the news organization reported. Peters has denied allegations made against him in a related civil lawsuit filed earlier this year.
The teenager told Chatham police that she and Peters first communicated through Instagram and that he later paid her to appear in videos connected to the “looksmaxxing” content he streamed online, according to a police report reviewed by The Associated Press. She told investigators that Peters knew she was 17 but instructed her to tell viewers she was 18. She also alleged that he told her to describe vodka he gave her as water while the livestream was underway.
On May 23, 2025, the teenager said she traveled by rideshare from her grandparents’ home to Peters’ family residence on Morris Island in Chatham. She told police that Peters’ mother and grandmother were at the home when she arrived before Peters took her to a room where he was livestreaming. She said she consumed what she believed was the equivalent of two or three shots of vodka and became increasingly intoxicated.
A police officer who reviewed portions of the livestream reported seeing the teenager tell Peters that she was very drunk before the two kissed, according to the police report. After the livestream ended, the teenager told investigators that she and Peters went to his bedroom. She alleged that she later fell asleep and awoke the next morning while Peters was sexually assaulting her. The allegation has not been proven in court.
The alleged encounter was also described in a civil lawsuit filed against Peters in Florida in April. That lawsuit contains additional allegations involving his interactions with the teenager, including a claim that he later injected her with a fat-dissolving substance during a livestream without her consent. Peters has denied the allegations in the civil case.
Peters built a large following under the name “Clavicular” through livestreams and posts about “looksmaxxing,” an online practice centered on changing or enhancing physical appearance. His content has included discussions of appearance, fitness and other methods aimed at becoming more conventionally attractive. He has maintained large audiences on platforms including TikTok, Instagram and Kick.
The “looksmaxxing” trend has roots in online communities focused heavily on physical appearance and dating. Peters has rejected attempts to associate him with the “incel,” or involuntary celibate, community and has described his approach to looksmaxxing as a form of self-improvement. That online profile has made the Massachusetts criminal case particularly visible as the allegations move from earlier civil claims into a criminal court proceeding.
The criminal case remains pending, and the charges are allegations unless proved in court. Peters’ next scheduled step in Massachusetts is his Oct. 14 arraignment in Orleans District Court, where the charges are expected to be formally addressed.
