Man and toddler shot in Walgreens parking lot

DURHAM, NC – A man and a three-year-old boy fell victim to a shooting that took place outside of a Walgreens drugstore located on the 700 block of Fayetteville Street in Durham. The Durham police confirmed the incident happened in the store’s parking lot. The victims were in a car when a suspect drove through the parking lot and opened fire at their vehicle.

Both of the victims of the shooting were taken to the hospital. The toddler who was suffered from life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, the man’s injuries were not life-threatening. The relationship between the two victims remains undetermined.

Witnesses at the scene recount hearing multiple gunshots when the shooting took place. According to reports, at least 13 evidence markers were discovered at the location.

Mark Anthony Middleton, Mayor pro tempore for Durham, and Mayor Leonardo Williams expressed their outrage and distress at the shooting incident, particularly regarding the endangerment of children. They emphasized the urgent need for community members to demand accountability from government bodies, prioritizing the safety of children.
