Man captured after a carjacking and shooting his ex-girlfriend in the face

HOUSTON, TX – An 18-year-old man is in custody following a dramatic series of events that unfolded late Tuesday night in West Harris County, leaving his ex-girlfriend injured from a gunshot wound. Authorities are piecing together the chaotic sequence that began at a local gas station.

The incident erupted around 8:30 p.m. when deputies from Precinct 5 witnessed a man brandishing a firearm at a gas station on Greenhouse Road and Clay Road. The suspect, identified as Christopher Rashad Morgan Jr., allegedly commandeered a woman’s vehicle at gunpoint, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Fortunately, the carjacking victim was unharmed.

Morgan’s night of turmoil did not end there. He reportedly used the stolen vehicle to pick up his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend, triggering a high-speed chase. During the pursuit, Morgan collided with another car, though the driver escaped injury.

The chase concluded at the Grand Parkway, where Morgan abandoned the car and attempted to flee on foot. Authorities were able to apprehend him shortly after. Inside the vehicle, deputies discovered Morgan’s ex-girlfriend suffering from a gunshot wound to her jaw. She was promptly airlifted to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

The young woman informed deputies that Morgan had shot her, further complicating the already grave situation. As a result, Morgan now faces multiple charges, including aggravated robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and evading arrest in a motor vehicle.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident, urging the public to remain vigilant and attentive to their surroundings, particularly in the aftermath of a turbulent relationship. Authorities advise that if individuals ever feel threatened or unsafe, they should not hesitate to contact law enforcement, as domestic disputes can rapidly escalate.
