Man pretending to be Amazon delivery driver robs 90-year-old woman

MIAMI, FL – Authorities are on the hunt for a brazen burglar who disguised himself as an Amazon delivery driver to rob a home in Miami. The suspect targeted a residence where a nurse was caring for a 90-year-old woman with dementia.

The incident took place when the man approached the property on a motorized scooter, wearing an outfit resembling an Amazon delivery uniform. Despite no one answering the door, he persisted, entering through a side gate.

The homeowner’s daughter, who was at work during the break-in, expressed her distress. “I was terrified when I got the call. I feared for my mother’s life,” she said. The suspect reportedly threatened the nurse, demanding her phone and wedding ring.

Surveillance footage captured the suspect leaving the house with stolen jewelry. He fled the scene on his scooter, heading towards 24th Avenue. Miami police received the report shortly before noon from the 2300 block of Southwest 11th Terrace.

Residents of the typically quiet neighborhood were shocked. Longtime resident Hilda Casanueva, who has lived across the street for nearly 50 years, described the alarming scene with police vehicles surrounding the area.

The suspect was last seen wearing a white bike helmet, an Amazon jacket, dark pants, and blue shoes. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Miami police immediately.

Fortunately, no one was harmed during the robbery, but the audacity of the crime has left the community on edge. The investigation continues as detectives work to identify and apprehend the suspect.
