LAS VEGAS, NV – A man accused of a seemingly random stabbing attack on the Las Vegas Strip has been brought up on charges. Aged 47, Adam Carter is facing charges of attempted murder, augmented due to the fact that the victim was over the age of 60.
Police were called to the scene, located outside the Excalibur Hotel and Casino, at around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29. Investigators discovered a victim who had been stabbed on a pedestrian bridge linking the Excalibur to the New York-New York Hotel & Casino.
According to the victim’s statement to police officers, Carter had approached him asking for water before launching the unprovoked attack. The location where officers found Carter also revealed a six-inch steak knife nearby. Despite the serious injuries inflicted during the assault, the victim underwent surgery and survived.
Upon questioning, Carter disclosed that he had smoked methamphetamine and consumed alcohol recently. Surveillance camera footages confirmed the account from the victim.
However, on Oct. 1, Carter refused transport to court for his first appearance, and Las Vegas Justice Court Judge Rebecca Saxe denied granting him bail. Carter also declined to appear on Thursday, which led Las Vegas Justice Court Judge Elana Lee Graham to deny bail once more. Graham has demanded that Carter be present at his next scheduled appearance under any circumstances necessary.
This incident is not Carter’s first run-in with the law, having been arrested weeks before for damage to property inside Sunrise Medical Center. Earlier in September, he agreed to a plea deal that required him to pay restitution and serve probation.
