Man stabbed to death by his roommate

SANTA ANA, CA – A violent dispute between roommates ended in bloodshed, leaving one man dead in Santa Ana, California, on Sunday morning. The incident, which occurred around 8:30 a.m., brought the attention of the Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) to the 1500 block of S. Lowell Street.

Upon their arrival, responders discovered 26-year-old William Stephen Nared with a chest wound. Despite desperate efforts from the Orange County Fire Authority to save his life, Nared was pronounced dead at the scene.

As the investigation unfolded, authorities identified the alleged culprit as 25-year-old David James Espinosa. Espinosa was reported to have fled on a bicycle immediately after the altercation. Nevertheless, officials apprehended him shortly after a short distance from the scene.

Based on the initial findings, the SAPD revealed that Nared and Espinosa resided in the same living unit. They suggest that the early morning confrontation escalated from a verbal dispute to a physical altercation, culminating in the fatal stabbing.

Currently, Espinosa is in police custody and is facing murder charges. SAPD has yet to release additional details about the incident.

The department, however, encourages anyone with relevant information about this case to contact the SAPD Homicide Section Detectives.
