UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, NY – A man was fatally stabbed in a building in the Bronx on Wednesday, prompting police to launch an immediate investigation. The incident, which occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m. in University Heights, resulted in a 34-year-old man being found with a chest stab wound on the building’s second floor.
Following the discovery, the victim was quickly transferred to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was announced dead. The victim’s mother, currently reported sick, was aided by a police officer to ascend her Bronx house’s stairs following the tragic incident.
A woman named Evelyn, who claimed to have known the victim his whole life, commented on the incident. “He’s in his early 30s and to get his life taken like that is horrible,” she said.
According to witnesses, the victim was returning home when he was confronted by a man who punched him in the face. After appearing to disengage, the man returned with two friends and a machete and repeatedly stabbed the victim in the chest. The victim’s fiancĂ© was seen leaving the building in tears on Wednesday night.
Friends of the victim described him as a hardworking individual who was not known to be in trouble with the law. Despite the ongoing manhunt for the three men who fled from the scene, no arrests have been made so far.
