TORRANCE, CA – A former student of El Camino College (ECC) allegedly stabbed his mother before falling to his death from a parking structure on the college campus on Friday, according to college and law enforcement reports.
Torrance Police Department officers, along with campus security, were notified about a domestic violence incident late on Friday afternoon. They found a woman with multiple stab wounds believed to have been inflicted by her son. The woman was quickly transported to the Harbor UCLA Medical Center, where she is said to be in critical condition.
Post the alleged assault on his mother, the man reportedly ran into a college parking lot and jumped off from the fifth floor, subsequently dying on impact. The incident resulted in his immediate death, and his body was discovered on the sidewalk below the parking structure.
The identities of those involved are presently withheld due to ongoing investigations. As part of the investigative activities, the vicinity of Redondo Beach and Crenshaw boulevards were temporarily closed on Friday evening. ECC campus will also remain closed until Monday morning.
The case, initially being handled by the Torrance Police Department, has been handed over to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Additional information about the incident was not available as of Saturday morning.
