A tragic incident unfolded in Philadelphia as a husband and wife were shot and killed just steps away from their front doorstep. The couple was found lying on the sidewalk in the Cobbs Creek section of the city early Friday morning. The police responded to the scene after multiple gunshots were reported by a neighbor. At approximately 2:45 a.m., authorities arrived at the intersection of 61st and Locust streets, where they discovered the lifeless bodies of a 43-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man. According to witnesses, the sound of gunshots rang out, prompting one neighbor, Razakhan Wali, to stay indoors. Wali’s wife, however, ventured outside after noticing the presence of police cars.
Tragically, the woman had been shot in the back of the head, while the man had sustained a gunshot wound to the face. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene by medics.
Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small revealed that the couple’s residence was just a single house away from where they were found. The proximity of the crime scene to their home only adds to the chilling nature of the incident. Authorities believe that the couple was returning home when the shooting occurred.
Preliminary information suggests that family members, including the couple’s children, were present at the time of the attack. Investigators discovered two cellphones, a purse, and an unused gun still in its holster near the victims. It appears that the weapon was not fired or even drawn from its holster.
