PINELLAS PARK, FL – An alarming threat indicating a mass shooting on New York City’s subway on Thanksgiving resulted in the arrest of a local Pinellas Park man on Wednesday. According to the Pinellas Park Police Department (PPPD), the action was prompted by an anonymous tip directing their investigation towards 19-year-old, Robert Trout III. Taking to social media, Trout allegedly posted an unsettling video threatening a potential attack.
In his Instagram post, Trout aggressively warned, “I’m gonna shoot anybody I see on that f train. If you’re from New York City, do not take the train on Thursday evening.” The threat was compounded by a disconcerting video that displayed Trout wielding two Glock .40-caliber handguns recklessly, declaring his possession of 60 rounds of ammunition with an intimation to eliminate 60 individuals, the PPPD mentioned.
An investigation by the PPPD established Trout’s identification from several sources, including his mother. The suspect’s family disclosed his past affiliations to New York and anticipations of him returning there shortly.
Further investigation involving a search of Trout’s vehicle uncovered two molds specifically designed for manufacturing Glock-style lower receivers. Such molds are typically substituted for the original parts that come with unique serial numbers enabling tracking, PPPD clarified.
Trout faces charges related to threatening a mass shooting and unauthorized use of a two-way communication device. Jail records indicate that Trout remains in custody at the Pinellas County Jail under an FBI courtesy hold as of Friday.
