Missing 18-year-old texted ‘help me’ before disappearance

ENGLEWOOD, FL – The search intensifies for 18-year-old Giovani Pelletier, who vanished while visiting relatives in Florida. A reward of $25,000 is now offered for any information leading to his whereabouts. It has been nearly a week since Giovani disappeared, leaving his family and authorities puzzled.

Giovani’s mother, Bridget Pelletier, is desperate for answers. “We want our son home,” she said, expressing the anguish of not knowing what happened. The family, originally from North Carolina, was in Englewood when Giovani left with cousins to visit more relatives in Brevard County.

The situation took a troubling turn when Giovani texted “help me” to his family. Witnesses in the car reported that Giovani began acting erratically before exiting the vehicle near Interstate 75 and State Road 70 in Manatee County. His backpack and phone were later discovered abandoned by the roadside.

Bridget is struggling to understand the events leading to her son’s disappearance. “There’s too many things that don’t make sense,” she said, frustrated by the lack of progress despite assistance from local residents and law enforcement.

Nonprofit search group We Are The Essentials, alongside Giovani’s family, continues to comb through areas of Sarasota County, hoping to piece together his movements. The first 24 hours are crucial in missing person cases, but as the days pass, urgency grows.

The family is appealing to the public for any footage of the white Chevy Malibu Giovani was last seen in. Such evidence could be vital in determining the vehicle’s location and timeline, potentially unlocking the mystery surrounding Giovani’s disappearance.

“Our family is not the same without Gio,” Bridget lamented. “We can’t stop looking for him. We need him home.”

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office leads the investigation, urging anyone with information to come forward. As the search enters its second week, the community remains hopeful for Giovani’s safe return.
