Mom arrested for starving her 10-year-old son to death

MORRISVILLE, NC – Morrisville police have arrested 33-year-old Priyanka Tiwari on murder charges following the death of her 10-year-old son. The arrest warrant states that Tiwari was allegedly starving her son, leading to his death.

Police were called to her Craigmeade Drive residence on Wednesday, where they discovered the child had been deceased for a considerable period by the time they got there. Tiwari was immediately taken into custody and charged with murder and serious bodily harm due to negligent child abuse.

The length and extent of the abuse within the home remain undetermined. Local law enforcement stated that the investigation has revealed signs of severe negligence.

Tiwari is facing charges of first-degree murder and child abuse causing serious bodily injury. She could receive a death penalty or life imprisonment without parole if found guilty. The child abuse charge brings the potential for an additional sentence of up to 231 months. She made a request for a capital defender in her first court appearance earlier today. Currently, Tiwari is being held without bail, with her next court date scheduled for January 11.

Residents of the locality expressed their shock at the tragic news, admitting that they rarely saw anyone from the involved home and were unsure about the number of occupants residing there. Neighbors depicted the community as very family-oriented and suitable for children while confessing they did not know much about the boy or his mother.
