Mother charged with murder of 4-year-old twin sons

MURPHY, NC – A North Carolina mother was charged with the murder of her 4-year-old twin sons and has been arrested, according to information released by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

After a 911 call from the twins’ father was dispatched to authorities on a Saturday morning, emergency services were immediately sent to the location. Following his regular visitation schedule, the father arrived at his estranged wife’s residence only to find his twins dead, as he reported to the authorities.

The mother of the twins, Genevieve Ellen Springer, was initially hospitalized in Georgia before charges were placed. Springer now faces two first-degree murder charges and was arrested in Union County, Georgia, following her release from the hospital.

The authorities shared in their statement that Springer conceded to extradition and was admitted to the Cherokee County Detention Center on March 3, 2024, where she is held without bail at present.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the exact details concerning the time and date of the twins’ death, with the last known sighting of the boys being February 26, as relayed by the father.
