DALLAS, TX – An incident on LBJ Freeway left traffic at a standstill on Tuesday morning after a man implicated in a multi-car crash stabbed a bystander, stole two vehicles, and ran over their drivers, Dallas police reported. The suspect is presently facing several counts of aggravated assault.
The incident, which took place at I-635 and Forest Lane in Dallas shortly after 7 a.m., was caught on video by witnesses. The footage shows a man chasing a woman with a car, eventually running her over and trapping her underneath.
Sameer Sethi, a witness to the incident, recounted the events that led up to this moment. Sethi observed an initial car crash and both drivers getting out of their vehicles. Following an argument, one driver, later identified as 26-year-old Angel Zamora Moreno from Plano, pulled a knife and attacked the other individual.
Sethi documented the frenzied scene of Moreno rampaging over several vehicles and stomping on windshields and posted the clips on his Instagram account.
According to police, Moreno then stole another driver’s car and rammed into a TxDOT worker who had stopped to assist with the initial wreck. Moreno subsequently drove after a woman in red scrubs, ultimately running her over. Both victims were hospitalized.
In the chaotic aftermath, good Samaritans managed to tackle Moreno to the ground, restraining him until police arrived on the scene. Moreno now faces seven charges of aggravated assault in connection to the incident. He also faces two counts of unauthorized use of a vehicle, as well as one count of criminal mischief.
Moreno had reportedly been terminated from his job at a Dallas contractor one day prior to the incident, although the reasons for his termination remain undisclosed.
