Nightclub shooting kills local musician, injures two others

A tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning at the Gala nightclub on South Beach, when a shooter opened fire during a party, leaving one dead and two injured. The crime scene tape cordoned off the 200 block of 23rd Street, as authorities began their investigation into the violent event.

Three individuals were struck by the gunfire: two women and a man. The man, later identified by friends as 37-year-old Lowell Grissom, also known as Lo, was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Both of the women that were shot are expected to make a full recovery.

Lo, a well-known musician in the hip hop community, had connections to several prominent artists. He had recently relocated to South Florida from California and is survived by his young son.

In response to the devastating incident, the Gala nightclub released a statement on their Instagram, expressing their shock and sadness over the targeted attack that transpired within their upscale venue.

As the investigation unfolds, many questions surrounding the motivation behind the shooting remain unanswered. One of Lo’s friends, speaking to CBS News Miami, speculated that he was specifically targeted, with the two injured women being unintended bystanders. At this time, no arrests have been made.
