The crash was reported at about 2:30 p.m. near Telegraph Road and Slauson Avenue, roughly 15 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. One person died at the scene, according to information reported by NBC Los Angeles. The victim’s identity was not immediately released. Authorities had not provided details about whether the person who died was inside the vehicle, inside the building or elsewhere at the time of the collision.

Two other people were injured. One suffered minor injuries, while another was taken to a hospital for treatment. The condition of the hospitalized person and the identities of the injured people were not immediately available.

Authorities also had not released information about what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike the building. It was not immediately clear how many people were in the vehicle, whether anyone inside the business was among those injured or whether investigators were examining speed, impairment or another possible factor.

The collision occurred near Telegraph Road and Slauson Avenue, two major roads serving Santa Fe Springs and surrounding communities in southeast Los Angeles County. Emergency crews responded to the scene after the afternoon crash, which left at least three people dead or injured.

Early reports provided few details about damage to the building beyond the vehicle crashing into its front. Authorities had not announced whether the structure remained safe to occupy or whether the collision forced nearby businesses or roads to close.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remained under investigation Monday evening. Authorities had not publicly identified the person who died or announced a cause of the collision, and additional information was expected as investigators continued gathering evidence.
