A three-year-old Australian boy has tragically been found dead from stab wounds in a Riverwood apartment. A critically injured man was also discovered in the same residence.
The distressing scenario unfolded around 4 p.m. on Wednesday when emergency services were asked to make a welfare check at the unit. On arrival, they encountered a three-year-old boy who lost his life.
The circumstances indicate that a 45-year-old man, believed to have been threatening self-harm, was the cause of the police being alerted. With concern growing for the child’s safety, the authorities were quickly on the scene.
The man was transported to the hospital in critical condition. After receiving surgery, he is now in stable condition.
The three-year-old boy was thought to be living with the 45-year-old man after the child’s mother tragically passed away some years ago.
The alarm was raised by a woman residing in the same unit, who is related to the injured man, as the authorities reported. The connection of the woman to the unfolding events is yet to be determined.
Superintendent Sheridan Waldau stressed that the investigation was only at its beginning stages.
