CLIO, MI – A police-involved shooting in Clio resulted in three fatalities on Tuesday night, as per local investigators. The Clio Police Department and Genesee County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic dispute involving gunfire in the 600 block of Mill Street that took place shortly after 7:35 p.m.
Upon their arrival, officers found a deceased woman on the steps of an apartment complex. As the situation progressed, officers encountered a man armed with a shotgun who fired at the police in the street. The police retaliated, striking the suspect in the exchange.
The assailant received on-scene treatment before being transported to a nearby hospital. While he was there, he was eventually pronounced dead. Another deceased man was discovered inside the apartment. However, authorities did not provide any information regarding his death as of Tuesday night.
The identities of those involved in the incident have not been disclosed yet. However, the investigators have verified that no officers or bystanders sustained injuries during the shooting.
The investigation into the events leading up to the fatal shooting continues, with The Clio police and sheriff’s office collaborating with the Michigan State Police. According to the authorities, there is no ongoing threat to the community.
