MCAYSVILLE, TN – Captain Brantley Worley, a respected officer, husband, father, and ordained minister, faced a life-threatening situation late Friday night. Responding to a call about a suspicious individual on First Street, a quiet residential area, he was met with unexpected violence.
Jake Bourne, a local resident, described the terrifying moment when the tranquility of the night was shattered by a single gunshot, followed by several more. Alarmed, he grabbed his firearm and rushed outside, only to find Captain Worley lying on the road, critically injured.
The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Timothy Craig Ramsay, fled the scene, disappearing into a backyard across the street. Authorities quickly focused their attention on Ramsay’s residence on Kingtown Street, suspecting he might be barricaded inside. However, upon entry, they discovered he had already escaped, prompting an extensive manhunt.
As Captain Worley battles for his life in a Chattanooga hospital, he remains in intensive care, suffering from multiple brain bleeds, a broken neck, and fluid on his lungs. The situation is dire, and the community is rallying around his family during this difficult time.
Police Chief Michael Early expressed deep concern, noting the impact on Captain Worley’s young family. He urged the community to keep the officer and his loved ones in their thoughts and prayers, highlighting the personal connection shared in this tight-knit town.
The incident has left residents of McKaysville in shock, struggling to comprehend such violence occurring in their peaceful neighborhood. Bourne, whose daughter’s bedroom is just feet from where the shooting took place, voiced his fears about the potential danger to his family.
The search for Ramsay continues, with law enforcement urging anyone with information to come forward. The community remains on edge, hoping for a swift resolution and justice for Captain Worley.
