OAKLAND, CA – Horror struck at the grand opening of Glamor Beauty Supply in Oakland this Saturday afternoon when a local female rapper, known as Tan DaGod, was fatally shot. The incident also left another individual wounded as chaos ensued at what was meant to be a celebratory event.
The shooting occurred around 5 p.m. in a bustling strip mall at the intersection of 40th Street and Telegraph Avenue. According to witnesses, attendees scrambled for safety, with many seeking refuge in a nearby donut shop as gunshots disrupted the gathering. A worker from the donut shop recounted the terrifying moments, initially mistaking the gunfire for part of the music being played at the event.
Oakland Police Department arrived on the scene to find one victim with gunshot injuries who later succumbed to their wounds at the hospital. A second victim, found injured at a different location, is reportedly in stable condition. Authorities are still in pursuit of the shooter, and as of Sunday evening, no arrests had been made.
The following day, a somber crowd, including devastated family and friends of Tan DaGod, convened outside the beauty store. Paying homage to the rapper and entrepreneur, the gathering reflected on her life cut tragically short. Tan, who had nearly 20,000 followers on Instagram, had eagerly promoted the event a week prior, inviting fans to a meet-and-greet.
Mistah F.A.B., a fellow Bay Area rapper and philanthropist who was also scheduled to attend the event, took to social media to express his grief. He remembered Tan as a vibrant soul with relentless ambition and courage.
The Oakland community remains shocked as the investigation continues, hoping for justice in the wake of this senseless act of violence.
