LONG BEACH, CA – Late Saturday night, a shooting in Long Beach, California, resulted in at least seven individuals sustaining injuries, according to Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) sources.
The shooting was reported around 11:15 p.m. PT in the vicinity of South Street and Paramount Boulevard, prompting a rapid response from LBPD officers. Per the department’s update, all victims, either on their own or with assistance from Long Beach Fire Department personnel, were transported to local hospitals.
Based on initial reports, four of the victims suffered critical injuries, whilst the other three had non-life-threatening wounds. However, it is unclear whether all victims were shot.
Preliminary investigation suggests the involvement of at least two male suspects who fired shots at a group. Authorities are still seeking the suspects and have yet to determine the exact motive behind the incident. But detectives indicate a potential link to gang-related activities.
In an early Sunday post on Facebook, the LBPD advised the public to steer clear of the crime scene to facilitate the ongoing investigation.
Reiterating the department’s commitment to community safety, Chief Wally Hebeish stated, “This police department is dedicated and focused on arresting any violent offender utilizing dangerous firearms to victimize our community.” He added that the LPBD, active on the case since the report, would continue its efforts until those involved in this act of gun violence are apprehended.
