LYNN, MA – In a chilling development, six individuals have been charged with murder stemming from a drive-by shooting that tragically ended the lives of two men in Lynn, Massachusetts, over the Labor Day weekend in 2023.
The shooting, which took place on Essex Street during the early hours of September 2, resulted in the deaths of 21-year-old Jandriel Heredia of Revere and 25-year-old Abraham Diaz of Lynn. According to Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker, the suspects allegedly opened fire from a vehicle at a group that was gathered for a social event.
Those charged in connection with the violence are Justin Alba, 25, from Peabody; Darwin Batista, 20, Yefferson Vallecillo Cambar, 22, Carlos Ramirez Corniel, 16, Leonardo Espinoza, 15, and Abel Severino Reyes, 21, all residents of Lynn.
The local community remains in shock, grappling with the senseless nature of the incident. Brian Diaz, the brother of victim Abraham Diaz, expressed his disbelief and grief. He remembered Abraham warmly, describing him as a conscientious individual who cared deeply for local youth and always looked out for others. Brian recounted that his brother had been part of a celebration honoring a friend’s college departure when the tragedy struck.
Details regarding the arraignment of the suspects have not yet been made public as the community and families of the victims seek justice and closure from this horrific event.
