TREASURE ISLAND, FL – In a tragic incident in Treasure Island, Florida, an 86-year-old man was reportedly run over and killed by a truck that his son was driving. Thomas McKeown lost his life on Saturday night after his 61-year-old son, Mark McKeown, allegedly hit him.
As per details provided by the investigators, the deputies responded to the scene at R Bar around 8:30 p.m. where they found a 2019 black Dodge Ram in the parking lot. Thomas, visibly falling in front of the truck, was subsequently run over multiple times as the vehicle reversed and moved forward. The truck then vacated the scene to avoid being caught by authorities.
Further inspection led to the discovery that the truck was driven by Thomas’ son, Mark. He was arrested for his involvement in the incident that resulted in his father’s death. He was also charged with leaving the scene of a crash that involved a death.
Following the incident, Thomas was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment. However, after arriving at the hospital, he unfortunately passed away due to the injuries sustained.
Currently, authorities are considering that the driver might have been impaired at the time of the crash. Investigations are ongoing in the matter.
