LAS VEGAS, NV – A tragic five-vehicle collision in the East Valley resulted in the death of a juvenile and left several others injured Wednesday evening. Authorities are actively searching for the driver responsible, who fled the scene on foot.
The incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. when an unidentified driver, reportedly speeding, ran a red light while traveling westbound on Pecos Road. The car barreled into another vehicle, triggering a chain reaction that involved three additional cars. Emergency responders arrived swiftly, but the juvenile succumbed to injuries at the hospital.
Four others, including additional juveniles, were rushed to the hospital for medical evaluation. One remains in critical condition, highlighting the severe impact of the collision. Police have expressed concern over the frequency of such incidents, emphasizing the need for community vigilance.
“It’s unacceptable for us to tolerate this kind of behavior in our city,” a police spokesperson stated. “We urge the public to slow down and pay attention. As we approach the holiday season, the loss of lives means empty seats at family gatherings.”
Metro Police are continuing their investigation, urging anyone with information to come forward. The suspect remains at large, and the authorities are leaving no stone unturned in their search for answers.
This fatality marks the 136th traffic-related death in the jurisdiction this year, underscoring a troubling trend in road safety. The community is reminded of the importance of adhering to traffic laws to prevent further tragedies.
